project paint

Yesterday I painted our main level half-bath!

When we bought our house, the whole interior was painted with an ivory color, which is okay, but not our first choice. We haven’t painted any walls since we moved in two years ago, so I figured it was time we paint something.

We used the color Stone Hearth by Behr paint.

I thought the lights looked really cool against a dark wall.

That’s it! It was more work than I thought it’d be, because in the bathroom there are so many things to tape and paint around, but it was worth it! Looking forward to our next project, which will probably be Silas’ room.

You never cease to amaze me, Sue! I wish I was that handy. If I was, I would have already painted our house by now! We are planning on doing some painting soon after all the “outside” projects are done. I’ve picked the colors for the kitchen/living rooms and the dining room. It’s so hard to be patient about it! We need color in a BAD way. :)
Great job! Can’t wait to see Silas’ room!!!!!

Hi Sue. An amazing transformation! I am amazed that you are renovating so soon after moving into a new house, but perhaps ivory was a poor choice on the part of the developers. At least our base color is a light brown or dark beige, and we have dark accent walls.

I have to say though, your photos are a bit misleading. In your “before” photos, the “whites” are off balance, and the nice bright toilet doesn’t look so nice. Run that through Auto Levels in Photoshop and it’d make it nice. I also see a fresh toilet paper roll, and a towel on the rack in your “after” photo. On the downside, you removed the reading material, which no bathroom should be without.

    Well done!

haha I know what you mean, Andrew! I did change some things to give it a newer look, (also notice a new hand soap) but about the yellowish of the old pictures, they were even more yellow before, so I adjusted them to be less yellow, but I guess I should have done it even more, except that I thought the wall color was starting to look too grayish or something. Not sure why the lighting was so bad in those first pics, cuz I don’t think I even used flash in the “after” set of pics.

Andrew: The secret is, she never actually painted the room, it’s all a photoshop job. True story ;)
