  1. pittsburgh mini-vacation

    May 5, 2010 by sholdren

On Monday we drove to Pittsburgh, stayed overnight, and drove back Tuesday evening. We did it because Brian had to use up a few vacation days before the end of the month.

We took a few pictures, but mostly video. Here are a few of our pics, and I will get a video together as soon as I can.

The first place we went was the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. It is about a 100 times better than the Children’s Museum of Cleveland. There’s actually no comparison. There’s three floors, the exhibits are so cool and interesting, and the kids had a ball!

This is the cafeteria. We ate lunch here before we went through the museum.

Silas on the big climby thing.

    Brianna in a “smart car”.

Silas looking through some kind of telescope.

This was a fun slide, but before you go down the slide, you have to go through a room that is tilted at a 25 degree angle. It gives you the weirdest feeling in your head, because your brain is trying to adjust to it. I almost felt like fainting or something. I never thought it would affect me, but it did. But, as your brain adjusts, it doesn’t bother you anymore. Silas only went down the slide once, because he didn’t want to go through that tilted room because of the weird feeling, plus he fell when he was in it. I went down the slide twice with Brianna and once by myself.

Brianna playing with the giant Lite Brite.

Silas playing in the water area. I think the raincoat I picked for him was a little too big, cuz it was down to the floor, and he looked like a mad scientist running around.

Brianna loved playing with that dolphin water toy! She stood there and played with it the whole time we were at the water area, and when we had to leave, she started crying.

Brianna snoozing in the hotel room. She was pooped out from all the fun at the museum!

Silas ready to walk down to the pool.

Bree ready for the pool! (there’s the frown again)

    The swimming pool.

The next day we went to the Carnegie Science Center. Here’s Brian with the kids, with the Pittsburgh skyline in the background.

Silas in the sports area of the science center, doing the trampoline/bungee jump thing!

That’s it for now! We had a blast! We love Pittsburgh, and hope to go back again soon.

  2. video-editing fun!

    January 19, 2010 by sholdren

I used my new video-editing software to put together a little video from our Christmas trip to Edmonton. I took so much video while there, so I decided to split it up into separate categories. This first video features some of the food we made and ate at Mom and Dad’s house.

    Hope you enjoy it!

  3. ice skating

    January 4, 2010 by sholdren

We are back from our trip to Canada as of January 1st! I just copied my pics and video from our trip onto my hard drive, so I will be making a video comprised of clips and highlights of the trip. But for now, here’s a couple pics of us skating at Millennium Place in Edmonton.

Brian, Silas and I skating. Brianna slept the whole time. 🙂

Dad teaching Silas to skate. Instead of skates, Silas wore blades that attached to his boots, and instead of 1 blade on each foot, there’s 2 on each foot, so it’s easier to balance for kids that are learning.

  4. auntie erna’s house

    December 28, 2009 by sholdren

Yesterday we went to Auntie Erna’s house for lunch after church. Here are a couple pics from when we were there.

  5. holidays in canada

    December 27, 2009 by sholdren

We’re having lots of fun here in Edmonton! I’ll try to post a pic soon. I’ve already posted some on Facebook. I’m also taking lots of video, so I hope to put together a fun video when I get back, using the new video-editing software that Brian got me for Christmas. 🙂

    Bye for now!

  6. arkansas pics

Here are a few of my pics from my Arkansas trip. I still have to get my Dad’s and sister’s pics, so after I do, I’ll probably make an official album, but for now, here are a few of mine:

The kids around the table while making a gingerbread house. From left to right: Elliott, Silas, Brianna, Esther and Heidi.

    The gingerbread house.

Silas and Elliott in their new warm winter hats from Omsie. Silas loves his. 🙂

Us girls went to a Christmas craft sale called “Lil’ Bit of Christmas” while my Dad babysat the boys. Here’s Steph, Brianna, Mom, Esther and Heidi.

Brianna and I at a Christmas wreath stand.

Esther playing with Brianna and a moose puppet.

Steph has 3 dogs this size that live around her house, so it really helped Silas get over his fear of dogs, although he’s still cautious around them.

Heidi playing either a Hello Kitty or Strawberry Shortcake game with Silas.

Uncle Terrill showing Silas and Elliott a photo album with tractors in it.

Heidi stirring the beans for Terrill & Steph’s new company, Big Mouth Barbecue!

Esther stirring the caramel for the caramel apples!

Us eating our homemade caramel apples. They are the best!

  7. autumn in arkansas

    November 17, 2009 by sholdren

I was in Arkansas last week with my kids and my parents, visiting my sister, Stephanie, and her family! It was great fun! There were a lot of pics taken with all our cameras, but for now I just have a video I put together from video clips I took with my camera. Hope you like it!

  8. pizza picnic

    May 20, 2009 by sholdren

Today, since Brian is currently on vacation, we decided to do something completely wild and crazy for supper: have a picnic! To make it even more interesting, we went and ordered pizza, and brought it with us. I brought along some pop, paper plates and napkins too. It was indeed a fun time!

Our picnic table in the park.

    Fun family times!

Our picnic site was right next to a playground, so Silas had some fun playing on it and running around with the other little kids his age that were there.

I took Brianna for a ride down the slide too!

Silas loves the swings that have rollercoaster-style seats!

  9. ontario oasis

We just got back from a relaxing mini-vacation at my parents’ house this weekend. We did things such as visit Lake Erie, go walking on a wilderness path, laze around, have BBQ’s, play with the kids, put the kids in the jet tub, and go shopping! We had a lot of fun!

Here are a few pics we took while we were there:

Us four at Lake Erie. It was a beautiful day.

    The Lake Erie shore.

    Silas at the lake.

    Silas with Omsie and Opa.

    Silas rock climbing.

Some uber awesome rib eye steaks my Dad barbequed.

Silas and Brianna in the jet tub. We didn’t turn the jets on when Brianna was in there, cuz when the water is low, the jets are like a tsunami.

I love how Brianna is smiling at Silas in this pic.

  10. detroit river discovery

    March 31, 2009 by sholdren

Silas, Brianna and I have been visiting at my parent’s house in Ontario since Saturday!  Actually, Brian was here with us too, but he had to go back home on Sunday because he has to work.

Today we took a walk by the Detroit River (which is partially located in Canada.) It was fun! We saw some cannons, seagulls, squirrels, a huge river, and an island with big mansions on it which can only be reached by ferry.

Mom, Silas and Dad at the Detroit River.
